With 22 days until the most important election of my lifetime, I wanted to reflect back. Those of you that have been with AmericaIsConservative from the beginning know that this blog began to exist after Obama took office and began to plunge this country into descent. Lisa said in the first post that even with Obama being in office just a few short months, it was evident he was taking this country in the wrong direction. He was so clearly endorsing socialist principles, had unprecedented power and yet it seemed as though most of the nation didn't notice.
Now it is three and a half years later. You have read as many of us have vented our frustrations, listed reasons why our country must decide differently, and posted calls to action. You have watched with us as our country slowly came back to its senses and began to balance the power again. After two years of unprecedented damage done by Democratic president and Congress, we knew we had to do something. The Tea Party was mobilized and the conservative base began to become excited once more. You and I voted to end Pelosi's reign of terror. We have rooted and cheered as the republican congress worked to bring a halt to Obama's massive spending, only to be demonized in the media. Obama began using more executive orders to bypass the Constitution and checks and balances process and reign more fully as King Obama.
Then came the Republican primary process. You and I watched as Gingrich, Perry, and Santorum all rose and fell. We dealt with questions like "Will Donald Trump enter the race?" "Will Sarah Palin?" and "Who can really beat Obama??" Mitt Romney became the front runner and after months of practice, we watched as he annihilated Obama at the first presidential debate. I don't know about you, but I cheered loudly as Romney stood up for the American people and said the things we have felt for three and a half years. Romney challenged him on Solyndra, raising taxes, and Obamacare. Some of the best quotes included:
"You are entitled to your own house and your own plane, but not your own facts."
"Look, I got five boys. I’m used to people saying something that’s not always true, but just keep on repeating it and ultimately hoping I will believe it.”
“I’ve been in business for 25 years. I have no idea what you’re talking about. Maybe I need to get a new accountant, but the idea you get a break for shipping jobs overseas, is simply not the case.”
You may wonder why I am taking us down this memory lane. For three and a half years, we have watched as Obama apologized for America, weakened our national defense, and took away our liberties. This is the home stretch. What we have been hoping for is almost here. Don't lose steam. Don't give up. This is the time to stand strong for Mitt Romney.
In a few short weeks, you will have the privilege to vote for a new commander and chief. Don't let anything keep you from the polls. Obama will bring out a lot of made up garbage over the next few weeks. Ignore it. Fight harder. Defeat Obama. Get to the polls and vote. Campaign, contribute, and pray. Lisa began this blog as a call to action in June 2009. Let's hear that call and get Obama out of office!
Mitt 2012!
