Today was an exciting day and we saw so many people! We have already posted some of the events but I wanted to include a summary of some of the other speakers that attended CPAC today:
Sen. John Thune (SD) - Discussed the importance of national defense and balancing the budget. He said that we do not "need to fundamentally change America. We need to be true to who we are."
Sen. Mike Lee (UT) - Focused on the original Tea Party, the constitution, job creation, and balancing the budget, encouraging attendees to speak with their senators and congresspeople to support the Lee-Kyle Balanced Budget Amendment.
Hon. Tim Pawlenty - Pawlenty sounded very presidential and created great enthusiasm in the crowd. He presented a platform on fiscal responsibility and overthrowing Obamacare and had some great quotes:
"Ronald Reagan knew how to stare down our enemies." "We will never, ever, ever stop fighting for our freedom." "Just because we followed Greece in Democracy does not mean we follow them into bankruptcy." "Mr. President, stop apologizing for our country."
Gov. Rick Perry (TX) - Focused on the importance of states' rights stating, "the government closest to the people governs the best." He also created great excitement in the crowd. Several people commented he sounded like George Bush, but it wasn't evident if that was because of his accent or content.
Ron Paul also spoke but there will be more on that later.
