I keep hearing Obama say as he has been travelling around the country speaking at various venues that he is committed to the middle class - no new taxes. But then, he selectively decides to leave out how much his policies have already directly impacted the middle class, and all of the taxes he has already passed our way.
This is a great article from the Heritage Foundation breaking down the Obama tax hikes. Also, keep in mind the damage that these taxes bring with them:

One Nation Under Arrest
This is very interesting. I've been listening to Mark Levin discuss this book on his show. It is about the "overcriminalization" of America - very interesting video here: http://site.heritage.org/Levin/default.aspx

Examiner Editorial "Obamacare is even worse than critics thought."
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/Obamacare-is-even-worse-than-critics-thought-960772-103571664.html
I'm copying and pasting the whole article - a must-read:
Six months ago, President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rammed Obamacare down the throats of an unwilling American public. Half a year removed from the unprecedented legislative chicanery and backroom dealing that characterized the bill's passage, we know much more about the bill than we did then. A few of the revelations:
» Obamacare won't decrease health care costs for the government. According to Medicare's actuary, it will increase costs. The same is likely to happen for privately funded health care.
» As written, Obamacare covers elective abortions, contrary to Obama's promise that it wouldn't. This means that tax dollars will be used to pay for a procedure millions of Americans across the political spectrum view as immoral. Supposedly, the Department of Health and Human Services will bar abortion coverage with new regulations but these will likely be tied up for years in litigation, and in the end may not survive the court challenge.

Obama said we can absorb another terrorist attack
Shocking details in Bob Woodward's new book.
President Obama, after being warned repeatedly by his advisers about the threat of another terror attack on U.S. soil, said in an interview two months ago that the United States could "absorb" another strike.
"We can absorb a terrorist attack. We'll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever . . . we absorbed it and we are stronger," Obama reportedly said.
Obama should not be President - he is putting all of us in danger. Read the whole article here.

Obama a Tea Partier??
A Great Article:
Prez sings an absurd new tune: 'I'm a Li'l Tea-pot'
If you think that's tea you're sipping there, Mr. President, then it must be seriously spiked, and you have way overserved yourself.
Defying the boundaries of political absurdity, President Obama shed his Red coat yesterday and locked bayonets with Republicans in hopes of aligning himself with the anti-establishment Tea Party and its mantle of "Don't Tread on Me."
Calling the movement part of a "noble" American tradition, Obama whined that Tea Partiers have simply misidentified the real culprits in Washington.

We are in an ideological war that is bigger than this election
So, here we are, coming up on a VERY important election. We have had more damage in the past 2 years than all 8 years that Clinton was president. Obama has moved us so extremely towards socialism, that more than any time that most can remember in their lifetimes, Conservatives feel compelled to step forward and take on a type of activism they never have before.
But, the point that is so important is that this is not just about this election or even the next election. It is isn't just about seats. So, to the Karl Roves and others in the Republican establishment, know that the precious seats that we are counting and the number of wins expected for each chamber is not the point. This election is a battle, but the war is much bigger. We have to remember that we are at war within our own country - we are at war with ideas that are leading us into bondage and sacrificing our liberties.
If we aren't at war, and the whole point is Republican seats, then we nominate a Mike Castle to run in the general election, someone who says he is a Republican, but who actually can't make up his mind based on his voting record. No, this is not just about the election, this is about timeless ideals that this country has forgotten about, ideals that, if understood, would have prevented our current President from ever being elected. We have to bring those ideals back. We have to help the country understand how extreme our President is - not the Tea Party, the Tea Party is NOT extreme - Obama is. We have been duped by so many lies and by such an overwhelming liberal media, that as a nation, we actually walked into voting booths 2 years ago and chose this man for office. We did this to ourselves. And, when he started spending our country into further debt, weakening our national security, putting environmentalist wackos' priorities over hardworking Americans, ramming an ill-conceived and bloated health care bill through Congress despite the millions of people who opposed it - we finally started to realize what we have - a liberal. Oh, and we also remembered that we don't like liberals running the country because this is exactly what they do.
So, again, we are at war, and this election is but one battle. We have to help the country understand what has actually happened here, we forgot what we stood for, we believed the lies, and we voted this socialist into office. And, as much as I want seats in Congress, sending a Republican who is "electable" to run against a Democrat whose voting records would end up being all but identical, is no win at all.
So, the task to the fabulous Tea Party and all others who have taken up the torch is to remember that this is about ideology, we need our country to return in ideology, and then the seats and votes will come. That's why the message itself is so very important. The words we say matter. The principles we stand for matter, and our gumption to pronounce as often as possible what we know to be true - matters. Without it, we will never win at this socio-political war of ideologies that we are in.
This posting was inspired by a great article at the American Spectator that can be found here.

Happy Constitution Day!
Excerpts from an excellent article from the Heritage Foundation:
On September 17, we celebrate the creation of our Constitution, one of the greatest governing documents ever conceived by the hand of man. This is the day we commemorate the birth of the United States as a nation, based on the rule of law and dedicated to the preservation of personal liberty, political freedom, economic opportunity, and the natural rights with which we are all endowed by our Creator.
But 223 years after the formal signing of the Constitution, our country stands at a dangerous crossroads, the likes of which we have never faced before, although it is one that was certainly feared by many of our Founders...
We are faced today with two different roads, one of which follows the path of liberty set by our Founders in the Constitution, and one of which diverges from that path and leads us down the road to tyranny. There are two different warring camps within our society, and the ongoing battle between those camps has been graphically illustrated in recent primary elections and by the vicious fight over the nationalization of our healthcare system...
...Their contempt and disdain for the Constitution was vividly illustrated by Speaker Nancy Pelosi when she was asked “where specifically does the Constitution grant Congress the authority to enact an individual health insurance mandate?” Her now infamous answer was “Are you serious? Are you serious?” The very idea that Congressional power has limits never even occurred to her. Similarly, Cong. Pete Stark (D-CA) was asked “How can this [healthcare] law be Constitutional, but more importantly than that, if they can do this what can’t they?” Starks’s answer: “The federal government, yes, can do most anything in this country.” The very idea that Congress only has the enumerated powers laid out in the Constitution is completely foreign to Stark. And too many in Washington have that exact same view...

The American Intelligentsia
Really insightful book excerpt from the RightNetwork on the pompous and condescending thinking of the "American intelligentsia."
"Intellectuals give people who have the handicap of poverty the further handicap of a sense of victimhood....They have encouraged the poor to believe that their poverty is caused by the rich – a message that may be a passing annoyance to the rich but a lasting handicap to the poor, who may see less need to make fundamental changes in their own lives that could lift themselves up, instead of focusing their efforts on tearing others down..."

Government taking over education
Must read article from the Heritage Foundation:
If they succeed, the administration will have orchestrated a significant federal overreach into what is taught in local schools. They will have done so without a single vote in Congress, bypassing normal legislative procedure, and without input from parents and taxpayers.
If national standards and tests become reality, parents will lose one of their most powerful tools when it comes to directing their children’s education: local and state control over academic content and standards. As if a distant bureaucrat in Washington knows what’s best for — or is significantly vested in — the educational well-being of individual students.
This is scary and exactly why we need to vote Obama out of office in 2 years.

Obama - When Are You Going to Reach Across the Aisle?
Definition of BIPARTISAN according to Merriam-Webster:
"of, relating to, or involving members of two parties ; specifically : marked by or involving cooperation, agreement, and compromise between two major political parties"
How many times during the election did we hear Obama talk about his bipartisan record? How many times since he has been in office has he touted his ability to "reach across the aisle?" Please outline what legislation has been proposed that engaged both parties and was a equal compromise AND represented what was best for America. Just wondering.
(And if someone says health care, I'm going to throw up!)

Tonight is an exciting night. I'm watching the coverage of tonight's Primaries and things are looking VERY GOOD for conservative candidates. Racism in America: A Look Back
Interesting article in the Washington Post:
"Liberal missteps on race and ethnicity are explained away, forgiven and often forgotten; conservative ones are cast as part of a sinister, decades-long story of intolerance and political calculation, in which conservative ideology and strategy are conflated with bigotry. "

Tea Party - good for the country
Well - I will agree and disagree with the last post (by my sister - the other blogger on this site). The Tea Party is not what's wrong, the wishy-washy centrist Republicans are - they've forgotten who they are and why they were sent to Congress. And, as they run for re-election, they should be able to clearly and soundly articulate their beliefs, why they should be re-elected, and how they are going to undo the damage that Obama has done. If they can't, then I'm glad people are standing up to run against them.
Admittedly, there is diversity in the Tea Party (though I disagree with the Tea Party being called the "extreme right"). But, this is good. The Tea Party has brought the debate to the right. It has put Dems on the defensive instead of the offensive. And, its quick formation and broad support prove that this is not as much a newly-formed group as much as a long-standing silent majority of Americans who finally are motivated enough to no longer be silent.
So, is it bad that the Republicans are disagreeing on a strategy, arguing over who should run against the local Dem? Yes. Is it the Tea Party's fault? No. The Republican Party has moved way too much to the center and the Tea Party has come along reminding everyone that they and millions like them are conservatives first and Republicans second.
Remember McCain? He lost the election for many reasons, but one of those reasons was that he didn't stand for anything. He spouted conservative ideals while actually having an extremely moderate voting record. He didn't even excite his own electorate. Conservatives supported him by default instead of on principle. Their hearts were not in it. So, when it comes to defeating Obama in two years, we need to be very, very careful to not have a McCain running against him. We need a Ronald Reagan - who, by the way, would have been very proud of the Tea Party.

Danger of the Tea Party?
The year was 1992. America had a president that had done good things in office, but hadn't kept his promises the way America thought he should have. Republicans were looking at their options and Democrats had been campaigning for years. Enter Ross Perot. He came in and successfully took 18% of the popular vote at election time.
Here we are again, except there is an extreme leftist in power. This mid-term election time, conservatives are looking to pull the pendulum to the right, but a bit of tug-o-war is taking place between the conservatives. Do we vote to the right or the extreme right? Do we vote for our principles or do we settle so long as the candidate is leaning right? And who can fight and win against Obama? What's going on in Delaware with Mike Castle and Christine O'Donnell is a great example of this. Republicans are factioning themselves and picking sides, but it divides the party. Conservatives need to make some decisions quickly or this and future elections could be lost to indecision all while the country continues its fast-paced sprint to the left.

Glenn Beck's new site and further proof of Huffingtonpost.com's lack of credibility
Check out The Blaze - Glenn Beck's new site!
Also, as I said in a previous post, the Huffington Post was speculating about Beck and Sarah Palin's event in Alaska this weekend. The Huffington Post had claimed it to be a secret meeting, "highly unpublicized" (even though I was able to easily find publicity about it and I don't even live in Alaska) - an event that would "raise some eyebrows." Supposedly, Beck and Palin were planning to announce a run for office. Well, again, the Huffington Post ends up being incorrect. See an article on the topic from Beck's site which discusses the rumors and what actually occurred. Guess how many comments the Huffington Post got on their bogus article (mostly by people believing the ridiculous rumor the article was perpetuating)? 1476 (as of right now). Amazing that such an uninformed reporting on a liberal, discredited "news" site can garner such a response from the Left. These people will believe anything.

Did you shout out in anger
In fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry

The mosque and the Koran
Arianna Huffington should really be embarrassed for her visit to Good Morning America this past week. Her comments are naive and logically unsound. She tries to compare the opponents of the mosque being built near ground zero to the minister who was threatening to burn the Koran. Read her comments here. I don't need to add any further commentary - Tucker Carlson (who was on the show with her) and Alex Fitzsimmons (who wrote the referenced article) do a fine job.

9/11 - We must never forget
As we look back after 9 years since the 9/11 attacks, I hope that we continue to remember the significance of that day. I never thought I would see attacks on American soil. We were a different nation on 9/10 then we were on 9/11 and since then. Our naivety is gone, our patriotism has returned, and we are more keenly aware of the fact that we have enemies who are out to destroy us.
I think back to the men and women who rushed towards the burning buildings in New York, the firemen, the good citizens who sacrificed their lives to save others. I think about the volunteers who sacrificed so much of their time to clean the debris, look for survivors, and comfort the victims and the victim's families. I think about the people on the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania who had the courage to stand up to terrorists knowing very well they were nearing their own death.
9/11 was tragic - but also showcased the best in humanity and the strength of the people of this nation.

Even Democrat lawmakers don't support Obama's economic plan
This is a very interesting moment to watch Democrats. Democrats have had to transition from being an opposition party to a governing party. It is one thing to speak as the minority party in Congress and oppose everything the other side comes up with. It is quite another to actually govern. It is like being a prosecutor vs. defense attorney. The prosecutor has to prove the case beyond doubt while all the defense attorney has to do is find any shade of gray in the prosecutor's argument. So, while opposing George W. Bush for 8 years has proven to be a very successful line of work for Democrats (it helped them win 2 years ago), they have now had to spend 2 years in the driver's seat. And what a mess it has been.

Communism is such an evil entity...it's scary to think we are headed that way. So what keeps people from speaking against the direction this President has taken the country? What would keep people from casting a vote in November to get those leading us towards communism out of office and take back our country?

New Book - Mad as Hell - by Scott Rasmussen and Doug Schoen
Here is part of a review of a new book about the Tea Party called Mad as Hell by Scott Rasmussen and Doug Schoen:
So-called professionals in politics, business, and media have completely failed to comprehend the new populism and have dismissed it as marginal and extreme. The authors explore the broad-based nature of the new populist movement and explain how it is reshaping American politics—whether politicians and elite journalists like it or not.
The Tea Party movement is not a flash in the pan, as many have assumed. Nor is it a movement of racist rednecks and ignorant boobs, as its detractors have crudely suggested. To the contrary, it is an authentic grassroots movement of concerned American citizens demanding to be heard by an out-of-touch political establishment. Their concerns are real and their issues are legitimate. Moreover, the new populism is here to stay and it has already changed our politics for the better.

Why we should fire the Democrats in Congress this November
"If the election is a referendum on are people satisfied about the economy as it currently is, then we're not going to do well," Obama told ABC News in an interview to be aired in full Thursday.
That's one of the smartest things I've ever heard the President say. He is exactly right, but it is actually so much more than that. True, he has no idea how to fix this economy. But, the elections now and in 2 years should be about more than just that. Even if the economy were doing well, his brand of liberalism should not be allowed to continue in any measure. We've taken more steps towards socialism in the past two years than all of our previous years combined. And, he's not done. From dictionary.com:
Socialism:
1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
2. procedure or practice in accordance with this theory.
3. (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.

Is Obama Ignoring the Signs?
Great article by By Kevin McCullough - Is Obama Dishonest, Naive or Both When He Talks About Our Economy?
"The basis of this reality is rooted in two truths that became quite pronounced last week. The first is that President Obama is ignoring the very real direction the nation is headed.

Stephen Broden at Tea Party event in TX
We had the great opportunity today to hear Pastor Stephen Broden speak today at the Tea Party rally I discussed in the last post. He is running for Congress against Eddie Bernice Johnson. Pastor Broden is a spectacular speaker whose message was so compelling today that I pulled out a pen and paper and started to take direct quotes:

Take America Back Tea Party Rally - McKinney, TX 9/6/10
Today, my sister and I attended our second Tea Party event. It was a lot of fun and again a reminder of what good people are a part of this movement. We had the opportunity to hear from some different great speakers. I specifically enjoyed hearing from Justice Bob Fillmore, who talked about his commitment to the rule of law and the many instances he has witnessed of judges legislating from the bench. Jerry Tuma (economist and President of Cornerstone Financial Services) talked about his new book coming out, "From Boom to Bust." Kelly Shackelford, of the Freedom Institute, spoke providing some incredibly insightful cases against religious freedom in this country.
There were also some different booths set-up that we perused. We chatted with members of the Golden Corrider (a Republican Women Organization) and shook hands with Justice Lana Myers who is up for re-election.
The most compelling speaker today was Pastor Broden who is running for US Congress to try to unseat Eddie Bernice Johnson. I will write more about Pastor Broden in my next entry. His message was so compelling that I want to do all that I can to see this man get elected in Congress, even though he isn't in my district.

President wants second stimulus
No no no no no NO NO NO!!! Mr. President - STOP SPENDING MONEY!!! We can't afford it!
"WASHINGTON -- Appealing to a union crowd on Labor Day, President Obama on Monday is calling for a $50 billion investment in long-term infrastructure projects that the administration claims will stimulate the flailing economy, create jobs and refill the exhausted highway trust fund."

Tea Party Event
Pics from the Tea Party event. As a media man himself, Breitbart had some good insights and was able to articulate specific examples of bias (or lies) found in "mainstream" media. There were a lot of other speakers, like Mark Meckler and Mark Davis, who were fabulous, but I really enjoyed Breitbart's message.
As a whole, the event was really interesting, lots of patriotism, and lots of enthusiasm. One of the prominent messages was the necessity of getting involved.

Huffington Post article completely misses the point
This seems like fuzzy math, but how many temporary jobs the stimulus package was going to save was never the point. The article shows the complete lack of understanding on the left for what the debate about the stimulus was all about in the first place, this was about using taxpayer funds to provide temporary relief - putting our country in such extreme debt that we may never get out of, which will take us to tax brackets of which we have never seen before to pay for our short-sighted stupidity. The next generation has no idea what is going to hit them.

Where are the jobs?
Here is a snippet from a great article. Next time Obama wants a stimulus - just say no:
It’s simply irrefutable that the Recovery Act has not had the beneficial impact projected by the White House. In fact, based on the data alone it’s arguable that the net impact has been detrimental to the economy, especially in combination with other legislation and policy changes enacted by the Administration and the Democrat-led Congress.
While Democrats would like to blame their declining political fortunes on a climate of fear stirred up by the GOP and conservative media, mainstream America recognizes incompetence and mismanagement when they see it. Saddling our children and grandchildren with $787 billion of debt (plus interest), while presiding over the loss of millions of more jobs – and yet brazenly claiming that they somehow “saved or created” 3-4 million jobs – is a disgraceful legacy of failure and deceit from which there is no escape. November is coming.

What are you scared of, Huffington Post? A whole story about a "secret" event in Alaska. Wow - are you out of real stories? What are you so afraid of that both of them doing an event would cause such a speculative post?

Tea Party rally
So Lisa and I attended a Tea Party rally tonight. I will write more on this later, but I wanted to type out my initial impressions.
- Tea Party Patriots are not extremists, violent, or racist. They are conservative individuals who are trying to influence the conservative movement.
- Tea Party Patriots are concerned about the direction this country is headed and are trying to remind the public (and Washington) what values this nation was founded on.
- Tea Party Patriots promote fiscal responsibility, limited government involvement, and free market enterprise.
I left the event feeling inspired to learn more about the forefathers and was reminded about the responsibility of being an American citizen. Having attended a rally myself, I am also a little surprised at how the media has represented these individuals and this movement. Let me just say, the media has been wrong.

Dallas Tea Party election season kick-off
What a GREAT evening!!! Several people spoke - including Mark Davis and Andrew Breitbart. I went up and shook their hands afterwards. Amazing night, amazing speakers, amazing message!
What I am struck by is that this is about something. This is not just an opposition of the current politics and mainstream media (though it does encompass that), this is honest, hardworking, good people standing for values that they (we) believe in strongly.
And Breitbart's examples of media bias and especially the amount of coordination involved was very eye-opening.
I am proud of America for not rolling over and playing dead to Obama's policies. I am proud that there are so many good men and women across the country who are not afraid to speak out. I am impressed with the level of goodness expressed - the need to be better, more principled, more honorable - setting an example of what we want to see and who we want to have in office.
I can't wait for the election in November!

Does the President Work?
Not to be too critical, but when does Obama work? I see him on vacation (multiple vacations, actually), golfing, on random TV shows, but when is he actually doing his job as President of the United States?? Just curious.
